Local Research Network

Established in 2018 as part of the XCEPT Project, the X-Border Local Research Network (LRN) is platform that has enabled collaborative research into understanding conflict-affected borderlands through partnering with local institutions and researchers. The LRN has facilitated research and investigation of transnational patterns of conflict and security and how these relate to questions on governance, cross-border mobility and trade, and gender—especially the role that women play in shaping new economic and political orders. Our research has explored specific borderlands in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan.
